Coach House Introduces Platinum II Motorhome

NOKOMIS, Florida — Coach House, Inc., has expanded its product offerings with the introduction of the luxurious new Platinum II downsized Class C motorhome. The Platinum II is the first Coach House RV to be built using the popular and stylish Sprinter 3500 cutaway chassis, which is powered by a fuel-efficient Mercedes turbo-diesel engine. Engineered to the same demanding standards as the original Coach House Platinum, the 25-foot, 9-inch Platinum II features Coach House’s patented one-piece fiberglass shell and head-turning aerodynamic design.

“The Platinum II delivers all the comforts of a full-sized luxury motorhome in a drivable, fuel-efficient vehicle,” said Coach House President David Gerzeny. “The Mercedes 3–liter V6 turbo-diesel and electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission can squeeze up to 20 miles from a gallon of fuel. We’ve designed the Platinum II to reduce the owner’s operating costs while enjoying the open road.”

The manufacturer’s suggested retail prices for the four Platinum II models start at $121,000. Myriad options allow owners to customize a Platinum II motorhome with the equipment and appointments that match the expectations and demands of their RV lifestyle.

Big Interior in a Small Package
Coach House engineers have placed the sleeping area and bathroom in the rear of the Platinum II, creating a wide-open living/entertaining area in the front of the unit. The unit features 6-foot, 4-inch ceilings throughout.
The Platinum II’s private bathroom has an enclosed stand-up shower, porcelain toilet, mirror and lavatory sink. A well-equipped kitchen with solid-surface countertops, a recessed sink, a two-burner LP gas stove, and a 6-cubic foot refrigerator is standard. A microwave/convection oven is offered as an option.

A permanent inner-spring double bed is standard on all Platinum II models. Thermal windows and day-night shades are standard. The Platinum II lineup includes four floor plans: the 241 FS (Front Sofa); the 241XL FS (Front Sofa with a slideout), the 240 FD (Front Dinette) and the 241XL FD (Front Dinette with a slideout). Both Front Sofa models feature a motorized sofa-bed that folds down at the touch of a button. In the 241XL FS model, the sofa-bed is contained in its own trouble-free HWH hydraulic slideout, which provides two extra feet of living space when it is extended. The Front Dinette models each feature a two-person dinette that can be converted into a twin bed at night. In the 241XL FD model, the dinette is contained in a slideout. Coach House interior designers developed three interior décors for the Platinum II: Studio (contemporary), Lido (transitional) and Wellington (traditional). Premium-grade carpet and flooring are used throughout the interior, and the cockpit seats, sofa-beds and dinette seats are covered with Optima leather-touch upholstery.

Strong and Agile
“Our goal with our entire Platinum line is to create well-appointed, reliable touring motorhomes that are easy to drive and maneuver, whether parking, moving through city traffic or descending a mountain highway,” Gerzeny said.

Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, a Firestone Ride-Rite air suspension system and four-wheel ABS disc brakes combine to make the Platinum II agile and responsive.

The most visible, and most distinctive, feature of the Coach House motorhome is the patented one-piece fiberglass shell. Coach House is the only manufacturer that offers such construction, which is more costly to manufacture. Other motorhomes are constructed of up to a dozen or more individual pieces that are joined together to form the body. But where there are joints, there is the potential for leaks and rattles to develop. With its premium gel-coat finish and high-tech composite stringer system, the Coach House one-piece shell is stronger, more durable and safer than multi-piece designs, virtually eliminating the possibility of leaks and noise.
To keep the cabin climate comfortable, the Platinum II is equipped with a 30,000-Btu auto LP gas furnace and a Fantastic roof vent with thermostat and rain sensor. (A 13,500-Btu ducted roof air conditioner is optional.) A 6-gallon LPG/electric water heater and 68-pound propane tank are standard. The Platinum II carries a 35-gallon fresh water tank, a 28-gallon grey water tank and a 25-gallon black water tank. The 25-gallon fuel tank gives the Platinum II a 500-mile non-stop trip range under optimal driving conditions

Convenient Amenities and Safety Equipment
On the outside, the Platinum II features a full-sized side entry door, a retractable, lighted entrance step, a large lockable storage compartment, a 110-volt outlet, porch and entry lights, an exterior hot-and-cold shower, and telephone and cable television jacks. Utility connections are grouped together in one easy-access compartment. The Platinum II provides two coach batteries in a slide-out tray, and a 110v/12v 45-amp converter/charger.

Popular options include automatic satellite dish, electric box awning, a diesel generator, and a trailer hitch.

Every component of a Platinum motorhome is covered by warranty. The Coach House conversion and Platinum drivetrain are covered for three years or 36,000 miles.
