In January 2020 we purchased a 2020 Tiffin Wayfarer 25RW. We took one camping trip in this Coach before the Pandemic began and decided that the Murphy bed Floorplan would not work for us. We have always had small Rv’s and therefore began a search for another small RV with a better Floorplan that would suit us.

Finding a well-made small Class A or Class C with an acceptable Floorplan was difficult. No class A shorter than 28’ was available and a Class C choice came down to a 2351D Phoenix Cruiser and a 272 Coach House. To avoid the OCCC problems with the Sprinter chassis, we wanted a new Ford chassis with 7.3 V-8 engine and the new safety features.

We chose the Coach House because it was only 14 inches longer than the Tiffin Wayfarer and the bed could be used with the slide in which the Phoenix Cruiser did not allow. So in July 2020 we drove to Nokomis Fl and traded the Wayfarer in for a new Coach House to be built. Our coach was to be delivered in February 2021. Our coach was finally delivered to us on April 1, 2021. Our first impressions follow.

The negotiations went well and we were prepared to lose money on our trade-in but did get some discount off the msrp on the new Coach. We were able to leave Nokomis with a good feeling after touring their plant and viewing their solid construction process. When we returned 9 months later the PDI went smooth and after checking all aspects of the Coach on an overnight stay, we departed for home the next day. After driving 1200 miles home averaging between 70 and 75 mph, our trip meter showed 10.9 mpg.

Once home I did a top to bottom inspection of the Coach and was impressed with the construction. All wires were securely attached, all entries into the Coach from below were foamed, heating pads on tanks included pads on not only the tanks but also the drain valves, the solid shell was impressive and the slide out battery tray with 3 AGM batteries outstanding. The interior was finished out nicely with leather recliners and fine cabinets. The 10 inch Garmin entertainment and navigation unit integrated into the Ford steering wheel was a welcome addition.

Here are the pros of this unit;

Solid aerodynamic shell that provided a very quiet ride
Superb construction that left nothing to be corrected after delivery
New Ford chassis with 7.3 V-8, safety features, OEM TPMS, adaptive cruise control and 6 speed transmission with manual downshift capability
3000 lbs OCCC with 7500 lb tow capacity
Short Coach. 26’ 10 “ with walk around queen bed
Fully functional interior with both slides retracted
HWH leveling and HWH slides
Firefly system with smartphone app capability
All electrical outlets have USB
Surge and electric protection built-in, no external surge protector needed
After 1200 mile trip home and one short camping trip, no faults have been discovered

Here are some cons
Bathroom and shower are small
Not as fuel efficient as a Sprinter chassis

We feel this is the best motorhome we have ever had and it makes sense that the best came last. We are in our 70’s and this will be our last RV. If anyone is considering downsizing from a large diesel pusher, I would recommend that they look at Coach House. We are sure glad we did.

After looking at the field, we bought a 2019 CH 261rt and we are so glad we did. It is a first class true 4 season machine that was built with great care and attention. We love it. 😊
